Welcome to Carden Conejo School

Carden Conejo School finalized an amended lease agreement with our landlord, the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD). The primary goal of this amendment was to move into a longer term situation. The agreement was brought before the CVUSD Board in a special meeting for vote and ratification. It was approved and signed on the spot!  This amendment provides for a “3-year rolling term” which means the district would need to give Carden at least 3 years notice if they should intend to use our campus for a different purpose. At the meeting, the Superintendent stated that they currently have no other plans for our site. Therefore, we are secure here at least through the 2020-21 school year, with every year bringing three more years. We are so thankful for all of the dedicated parents, students and teachers who have supported the school throughout this important process. It's been a marathon! We look forward to continuing to make Carden Conejo the wonderful school that it is.

Warmly, Bob & Holly Fleming

Charles V. Bush Library

Carden Conejo School established the Charles V. Bush Library on its Westlake Village campus during Black History Month. With "Let Reading Take You Anywhere" as its theme, the new space honors Bush's legacy by encouraging a joy of reading and cultural diversity. Students enjoy a colorful mural depicting children around the world, and a hot-air balloon story time corner.

On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, the Charles V. Bush Library was dedicated with a ceremony on campus. The library is made possible by a generous grant from the Charles V. Bush Foundation and through a donation from the Carden Conejo Parents' Association.

Charles V. Bush became the first African American to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court page in 1954 - the same year the court desegregated public schools - by Justice Earl Warren. He became the first black graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and became a highly-decorated officer. He went on to earn advanced degrees from Georgetown University and Harvard University.
